Glue for Tiles
Tile Glues
They can be used to fix tiles in porcelain stoneware or laminate, ceramic, marble, natural stone, glass mosaics, glass tiles, terracotta and klinker.
Before telling you the best brand, you will have to choose the performances of the glue.
When you go to choose the glue you will have to pay particular attention to the letters you will find on the bag. They do not change from product to product, as they are standard and comply with the EN 12004 standard. In particular, based on the chemical composition, you may find the letters C, D and R on the packages which indicate:
- Cement-based adhesives C
- Dispersion adhesives (paste) D
-
Reactive adhesives R
For the performance class, you can have two numbers:
- Normal adhesion 1
- Improved grip 2
For stoneware, you will need to choose glues with improved adhesion. While, for single-fired or double-fired tiles, you could also opt for a C1 glue, as long as the formats are not large.
Finally, you may need further characteristics of the glue, indicated with the following letters:
- Quick grab F
- Resistance to slip T
- Prolonged open time E
- Deformability S1 or High deformability S2
If you lay the tiles on top of another covering, the letter T is essential to ensure slip resistance.
The E indicates a setting and hardening time between 45 and 60 minutes. The installer will have more time to work with the glue.
